L-1 Visa: Intracompany Transferee Explained
The L-1 Intracompany Transferee Visa allows companies to transfer key employees from their foreign offices to the United States.
L-1A vs L-1B
- L-1A: For managers and executives. Valid for up to 7 years.
- L-1B: For employees with specialized knowledge. Valid for up to 5 years.
Requirements
- You must have worked for the foreign company for at least 1 continuous year within the past 3 years.
- You must be transferring to a US office of the same company (parent, subsidiary, affiliate, or branch).
- You must be coming to the US in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge capacity.
